Visit to Windsure in Vancouver

Since Halifax, June has been very busy with travel and lots of family commitments so I haven’t been teaching as much as I would like. It was exciting however on our family trip to Vancouver to see a cool windsurfing school.

My daughter’s friend Sarah is part of a family legacy that has run Windsure since 1977. They are located right on the water at Jericho Beach. They have a pretty big operation teaching windsurfing, standup paddle boarding and now wing and wind foiling. Apparently they teach over 1,000 lessons a year!

Sarah gave us a tour and it was fun to talk about windsurfing and foiling teaching strategies. We chatted about what a great event we had in Halifax with WeCanFoil.org. Sadly, I didn’t connect with outstanding windfoiling instructor Jonathan who I had met in Halifax. But I’m looking forward to reconnecting with him at the upcoming events in Kingston.

It was great to see such a big school teaching so many people how to get out on the water. Congratulations Windsure on 47 years of teaching windsurfing!
