Aimee from the UK was visiting her grandparents nearby cottage. They arranged the windsurfing lesson and were a bit curious to watch as well.
We did our safety briefing in the old Launch Pad building and then headed out to the point.
I put the 3.2 Now sail on the simulator and went through the basics. Aimee had some sailing experience and she had taken a windsurfing lesson 5 years and was quick to pick up on all the tips I added.
I left her to practice on the simulator and got the Seadoo and board. Turns out I didn’t need the Seadoo at all. Aimee got upwind a bit demonstrating a self rescue and got right underway. All her tacks were dry and eventually she was staying upwind consistently.
The BbTalkin headsets worked great with me giving tips with grandad listening in on the extra headset.
After around an hour she had worked up wind enough to finish the session with some nice downwind jibes and sweeping S turns.
We had a nice chat and debrief with Alan and Jean and then a walk around the new Launch Pad building. Hope she will come back next summer!
